The Way of the Hippie

May. 28th, 2008 | 12:13 pm
location: the clouds
music: Misty Mountain Hop - Led Zeppelin

Imagine no possesions, I wonder if you can, No need for greed or hunger, A brotherhood of man. Imagine all the people sharing all the world.

~John Lennon~

Growing up I have always considered myself a hippie. I was raised by hippies and I know my soul was created to live the hippie lifestyle.
According to Wikipedia a hippie is "one who doesn’t conform to society’s standards and advocates a liberal attitude and lifestyle". I believe a hippie is one who accepts a belief system that exceeds all other structured establishments. Weather it be political, social or religious. It is thinking for ones self by the way of love and tolerance. Loving people and accepting them for who they are without judgment of what they look like or what they believe. Hippies don’t infringe their theories on anyone they show them they way by leading by example.

Although someone is raised by hippies doesn’t necessarily mean they will automatically become one. For example, look at Alex P. Keaton from Family Ties.

I feel I missed out on the 60's era. I could see myself back in ’67 at the Golden Gate Park for Summer of Love, traveling the Hippie Trail to Istanbul or following the numerous great legends of music.
